On Thursday,December 12, Barbara Walters hosted her annual television segment in which she interviewed the most fascinating people of 2010. The list included Kate Middleton,Justin Bieber,Sara Palin,Sandra Bullock,Fergie,Betty White, the situation, and Katy Perry. I harbor no ill will toward any of thes individuals;but guess what? They are not the most fascinating people of the year. Let me share with you who deserves to be considered the most fascinating people of 2010. In Afghanistan this year several female humanitarian aid workers who were Christians were kidnapped and held hostage for months. The woman who were willing to give their lives in an effort to improve the living conditions of others. The women were tortured and brutally raped to the degree that when they were released from their captivity they could not utter a sound for months due to the shock resulting from their harrowing experience. I also believe in time they will be willing to put themselves in dangerous situations again if it allows those who are downtrodden and least fortunate to rebuild their lives and ultimately thrive.

Every patient at Walter Reed hospital is one of the most fascinating people of 2010. As I write this there is a soldier who has returned from Afghanistan, and he lost his arms and sight in battle. He is fascinating because he was willing to sacrifice his life on behalf of others.
